Bill reducing price for nation service passed

Turkbedelli

A bill reducing the price of national service for Turkish citizens living abroad (living for at least 3 years with a working visa and all those with dual citizenship) has passed through the Turkish parliament.

The bill deducts 5 thousand Euros from the current ammount, from 6 thousand Euros to 1 thousand. When citizens pay this amount, they will be redeemed of the compulsory military duty, and be accepted as people who have completed their national service.

People eligible for this scheme must have lived abroad for at least three years with a working visa. This, of course, is the minimum level of eligibility.

Anyone younger than the age of 38 can apply. Anyone eligible must show their papers in an appointment with the consulate. However, those who have not applied and are over the age of 38 do have a chance to apply.
