Kurds Protest Curfews

 

ALMOST A HUNDRED PEOPLE have attended a Kurdish Protest which has taken place by the Democratic Power Union (Demokratik guc birligi), on Friday 18 December 18.30pm, at 10 Downing street. They protested the curfews imposed by the Turkish government in various cities where its Kurdish population is situated.

Members of various organisations and individuals with no affiliation protested with slogans and banners on the pressure Curfews put on Turkey’s Kurdish population.

A press release was read out by a member of the Democratic Power Union, calling on the government to break their silence about the curfews imposed on Kurds in Turkey.

The demonstration which took place across from Downing Street lasted an hour, after which the crowd moved over to Waterloo Bridge.

After a short demonstration on the Waterloo Bridge, the demonstrators a sit down strike, closing both lanes of traffic, was held, lasting up to 10 – 15 minutes.

The demonstrators disbanded, peacefully, at 7.30pm without any trouble or arrests.
