TURKISH POLITICAL Party CHP Vice President of Socialist International Umut Oran, has attended a seminar in London ahead of the General Election in Turkey on Sunday 1 November 2015, at the Magnolya Banqueting Suite in Dalston, North London last Friday evening.
In his speech he spoke of the general elections held in Turkey on 7 June earlier this year and began by discussing the ‘chaos’ it caused thereafter. He also showed his reaction to the attack made on Turkish Hurriyet journalist and columnist Ahmet Hakan. He explained that the politicals have used gangs in order to try and restrict the medias freedom of speech.
The seminar organised by CHP England, brought together members of the Turkish speaking community to listen to Umut Oran and his thoughts on the upcoming election in Turkey. In the last general election in Turkey, the public voted for their country to be controlled by coalition government. He continued by saying that ‘the door was now closed for AKP and their ruling period is no longer’, he also underlined that despite it being against the law, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan is still holding meetings and asking for votes from the general public. He also reminded listeners of the project ‘Transporting Ballot Boxes’ and that too is against the law.
“Since the 7th June till now, I believe that AKP, MHP and HDP have all lost votes, we are determined in the upcoming early election and aim to win in becoming the leading party of the countrys’ government.”
Oran also answered questions from members of the audience following his speech. One member who asked what will you do should you not reach the success you hope to, he replied: “The general leader seat is nobodys specialty and if need be we will go for a vote.”
