Fun and games at Palmers Green festival

festival 1

Children and adults alike gathered in Palmers Green last weekend to watch the bands and performances put on during the annual shopping festival.

The event, held last Saturday, saw two live music stages – one at either end of the main shopping portion of Green Lanes that runs through Palmers Green.

The children were particularly well catered for, with Punch and Judy performances alongside appearances from Rhubarb the Clown and a stilt walker. There were also fairground rides, bouncy castles and a candy floss stall.

Costas Georgiou, the chairman of Green Lanes Business Association, said the event was a great success: “Although there was a little drizzle in the air most of the day, the event was well attended and the heavy downpours held off until the event closed.”

The event was started at 11am with an opening by David Burrowes, the MP for the area, and was also attended by local councillors including Bambos Charalambous Ahmet Öykener and Yasemin Brett.

“The live music stages have proven to be a hit with all who attend the event and add a lot to the vibrancy of the area on a day like this,” Mr Georgiou said, referring the stages set up outside the Fox pub and on the Triangle junction.
