The Republican People’s Party has promised to build a huge new metropolis in Central Anatolia if it wins the next general election.

Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said the new $200 million project would help Turkey become a significant country both in the region and the world, hosting research centres, power plants and strong transport road, rail and air links.

3 million people will live there and 2.2 million jobs will be created, he said.

While the planned location of the city has not been disclosed, some said it would be placed near Malatya province, which is close to the central southeast of the country.
