A North London clinic specialising in fertility treatments is offering a range of speedy options to would-be parents at reasonable prices.

Regency International Clinic in Nile Street, Islington, specialises in a range of treatments including infertility and sexual dysfunction.

The clinic, one of the few in the world to offer the ground-breaking Trans Cervical Tubal Catheterisation (TCTC) technique, is also known for its “one-stop rapid services”, which mean that in some cases patients can be diagnosed, investigated and treated on the same day.

TCTC is done using a catheter – the procedure was developed from treatment used for patients with angina (blocked coronary arteries). Before tubal catheterisation began in 1997, many patients’ main hope for conception was through IVF treatment, but this method is successful in 80-90 percent of cases.

There are many causes for fallopian tube blockage, including pelvic infection, vaginal discharge, endometriosis, adhesions, tuberculosis and dried moisture or secretions inside the tube (similar to dried tears).

Once the tubes are clear patients can try to get pregnant every month. There are no repeated costs, as with IVF, so there is an increased likelihood of lower expense. Regency International says it believes patients deserve choice and strives to keep the cost of its procedure down so patients can look into it as a genuine alternative to IVF.

In a description of the procedure on its website, the clinic says: “We have performed this procedure for many patients who have been unsuccessful with IVF. The pregnancy rate after catheterisation is 23-49%, with an average of 33% in the first year. This is on a par with the highest results from leading IVF centres.”

Regency International Clinic, based at 72 Nile St, London, N1 7SR, is open for walk-in visits 9am-6pm Monday to Friday, and for appointments only on Saturday.
