On Saturday 5th October Başaran Düzgün was in London for a book launch celebrating his latest romantic novel release organised by the Limassol Association UK.
Düzgün introduced guest to his romantic novel which was released at this starts of this year, explaining how he based his story line which also touches on the tragic events in Cypriot history, where extreme poverty lead to young children and women around the years 1915-1945 were sold to wealthily family’s, family members or overseas to foreigners, shedding light on a national struggle. A reality of Cypriot history which Düzgün said is overlooked in history books and should not be forgotten.
Explaining that the novel writing was very different process to his journalist work and took a year to complete the text before moving onto the publication process.
Sharing how he hopes to continue his works in this genre and is instead in sheading the line onto Cypriot history post 1940 and the migration of Turkish Cypriots to the UK, Australia and other countries.
Limassol Association chair Arife Retvan thanked Düzgün for accepting their invitation and join them in London stated that novel like his and books by our Turkish Cypriot writers need to be shared with the community in London and the UK.
