Man denies attempted murder over quadruple Dalston shooting

A man has denied the attempted murder of a nine-year-old girl and three men who were injured in a shooting outside a restaurant.

The girl was seriously injured when a motorcyclist opened fire as she was eating dinner with her family at the restaurant in Kingsland High Street in Dalston, east London, on 29 May.

She was taken to hospital where her condition remains stable, although her parents have expressed concern that her ability to speak and move will be permanently affected.

Javon Reily, 32, appeared at the Old Bailey and was remanded into custody.

Mr Riley was arrested on 9 August after a vehicle was stopped on Chelsea Embankment.

Three men sitting outside the restaurant were also shot but were discharged from hospital a few days later.

It is not alleged that Mr Riley was the gunman and the court heard that investigations into the shooting were continuing.

Judge Mark Lucraft KC indicated he would be the trial judge and said the next hearing would be on 19 November.

A three-week trial was set for 21 July, although Judge Lucraft indicated it might start later than that if there were more charges.
