Turkey’s Consul General in London, Bekir Utku Atahan, attended the traditional breakfast event organized by Bozca-Der, an association active in north London.
Bozca-Der, which has been operating in the UK capital for 15 years, hosted Consul General Atahan at their association centre. Bozca-Der, one of the oldest and most widely-supported associations in London, was founded by the residents of Bozhüyük, Camiliyurt, and nearby areas of Sivas, Turkey.
At the event, Consul General Atahan expressed his pride in being present, saying, “I am very proud to be here with you.”
Recently, the new management of the association, led by Turabi Keskin, visited the Consulate General. On Friday, Consul General Atahan joined the association members for breakfast at their centre in the Haringey.
During the breakfast, attended by association leaders including President Turabi Keskin, Vice President Perihan Yardım, Mehmet Köroğlu, Hasan Şahin, Enfield Borough Council member Sabri Özaydın, Ahmet Karahasan, businessman İbrahim Uzun, Ali Köroğlu, and Hüseyin Çiftçi, Atahan made a brief speech.
Consul General Bekir Utku Atahan stated the following in his post-breakfast speech: “I am very proud to be part of your traditional breakfast program. We recently met with the association’s board of directors at our consulate. On this occasion, we wish the new management success in their endeavors.
“We appreciate the activities the association undertakes for the youth and the community. As the consulate, we will always provide support for these activities both from the consulate and the embassy. We observe an increase in the number of Turkish people in the United Kingdom in recent years. Together with our Turkish Cypriot citizens, the number is estimated at around 500,000. We are also proud of the increase in entrepreneurs from within our community.”
Bozca-Der President Turabi Keskin expressed his thanks with Consul General Atahan’s visit to the association. After breakfast, the association’s management and the consul general engaged in a conversation discussing the services and projects the association provides to the community.
