Organized by the Turkish and Kurdish Community Solidarity Centre (DAY-MER), Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan were commemorated in front of Karl Marx’s monument in Highgate, London.

Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan are among the important figures in Turkish history. They fought for the rights of the working class and oppressed people, striving for a fair world. Deniz Gezmiş’s last words, “Long Live the Glorious Ideology of Marxism-Leninism,” were also remembered at this event. The tradition of commemorating Marx continued this year on May 5th, Marx’s birthday.

DAYMER officials stated that the purpose of this event is to keep alive the tradition of struggle of Deniz and to honor Marx’s worldview. Additionally, they expressed their aim to preserve the memory of important figures like Deniz Gezmiş, Yusuf Aslan, and Hüseyin İnan and to pass it on to the younger generations. This event aimed to bring together participants from various social segments, not only from the Turkish and Kurdish communities but also from diverse societal backgrounds, to strengthen the spirit of solidarity and unity.
