Turkish Ambassador in London promotes networking and career tips for students

Almost 200 students and business people attended an event hosted by Turkey’s Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertaş.

Ertaş, in his speech at the event, stated that the purpose of the event organized by the Embassy is to connect Turkish students in the UK with the Turkish business world. He emphasized the importance of communication and building a correct network in the modern world, both in the public and private sectors. He mentioned, “In diplomacy, the essence of the job is to establish correct communication and convey our views by reaching the right goals.”

Highlighting the competitive environment in the UK, Ertaş pointed out the advantage Turkish students gain with their knowledge of Turkey and the Turkish language. He said, “For companies or companies doing business with Turkey, the knowledge of Turkey and Turkish you acquire here provides a competitive advantage.” Addressing those aspiring to become diplomats, Ertaş stressed the critical importance of foreign language proficiency and offered advice to those wishing to take the Foreign Ministry exams.

Ertaş emphasized that students should not limit themselves to school education alone and recommended joining Turkish student associations at universities. Underlining the importance of ethics, honesty, and trust in the business world, Ertaş stated, “While studying in the UK, do not forget your roots. Your successes here will contribute to the success of our country.” He encouraged young people to participate in social responsibility projects.

Following Ertaş’s speech, leadership and career consultant Tankut Şensürücü and Asude Altıntaş from the Young Guru Academy, a civil society organization, provided information about their work.
