Community members take part in Remembrance Sunday ceremonies

On Sunday 12 November across the country people joined together for a two minute’s silent’s to remember those lost in war.

In Haringey community came together on Remembrance Sunday, November 12, at the Wood Green war memorial to pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. In the highly emotional and touching ceremony encompassing all faiths, the Last Post marked the two-minute silence at 11:00, before wreaths were laid at the base of the monument.

The event included prayers and readings from the Haringey community and faith groups, along with hymns before the national anthem “God Save The King” was performed.

Members of the Turkish-speaking community and representatives of civil society organizations also attended.  The Turkish Women’s Philanthropic Association (TWPA), who represented the Turkish Cypriot Memorial Association, made the following statement to Londra Gazete: “It was a real honour for TWPA members to lay wreaths at four difference remembrance day service in North London ‘s Barnet, Enfield Edmonton Green, Enfield Town , and our beloved Haringey war memorial on behalf of Turkish Cypriot remembrance society.”
