THE Köseoğlu family from Kahramanmaraş-Elbistan, who tragically lost their 11-year-old daughter Yağmur while on holiday, laid their daughter to rest in London.
Yağmur was on holiday with her family in Turkey, last Saturday (19 August) afternoon in the Ayvalık district at Sarımsaklı Beach a Jet Ski accident claimed the young girl’s life.
Remembering Yağmur’s memory and bidding her farewell, a ceremony was organized at the Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi in London. During the ceremony, Alevi community leaders, family, friends and community members were in attendance.
At the ceremony, a video highlighted Yağmur’s beloved nature due to her activities and generosity despite her young age. Afterwards, Yağmur’s friends performed a semah (Alevi dance) accompanied by Zakir Ali Yıldız’s saz (a traditional musical instrument). Following the cemevi ceremony, Yağmur’s coffin was taken to the BAF facility in Edmonton, which she was dearly fond of. Later, amid tears, she was laid to rest at the Alevi Cemetery in Enfield, north London.
Following the burial the family accepted condolences. The loss of Yağmur has caused great sorrow both in Turkey and England, uniting communities to preserve her memory.
