Ersan Özdemir waved the TRNC flag at York Hall

Turkish Cypriot amateur boxer Ersan Özdemir waved the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) flag high at the famous York Hall boxing arena.

The amateur who played his first match in the York Hall on Saturday, 29 July 2023,  fought through the rounds with a close fight. Ersan’s opponent Alex Moore won the very tight fight.

Ersan was trained by World Champion Professional Trainer Huzaifah Iqbal also known as H, who has trained boxers for the 2020 Olympics.

Hoping to redeem his win in coming fights, he said  “I’m proud to have got through to the stage I did with my fight. Regardless I am very proud to showcase the TRNC flag for everyone to see at the venue. I fought for myself and also had TRNC at my heart.”

The likes of David Haye, Nigel Benn, and Lenox Lewis all have fought at the famous York Hall. It is an iconic boxing arena, originally established as a Turkish Bath and converted to a boxing arena – becoming one of the most iconic venues for boxing in London.
