Two new singles realised by artist Djanan Turan

ARTIST Djanan Turan, one of the main representatives of North London underground music, is preparing to enchant the audience with two singles from her new album, written during the pandemic. Two tracks, one in English and one in Turkish, will be released on all digital platforms on June 16.

The first single, ‘Yangin’ (Fire), is a reproach to the world, where all kinds of injustice are exposed day by day. Tansay Omar (Bjork, Boy George) recorded the electronic rhythms of the song, which he recorded at the previously awarded Fossil Studios (Shannon Saunders, Sam and The Womp) in East London, and recorded his violins with Bar Markovich. For Djanan Turan, who wants to encourage the listener to stand up against all kinds of injustice by interacting with the world around him, the song also has the quality of a conversation with everyone whose heart aches with a common sadness.

The second piece, Diamond In Black, is written as a lament for every child we have lost due to the consequences of inequality and injustice in the world. Tansay Omar (Natural Rhythm Recordings) mixed the song, recorded by Djanan in his home studio, with virtuoso Baha Yetkin playing the oud, Fred De Mercedes’ bass and Shem Jarrold’s serangi. The instruments that accompany the song and have heart-warming sounds create an immersive atmosphere that connects with the listener deeply.
