Turkish Cypriot Erhan Alman Nominated for Two Awards at Heavy Music Awards

UK Turkish Cypriot Erhan Alman’s Heavy Metal Band, Heriot, Nominated for Two Awards at Prestigious Heavy Music Awards Ceremony at OVO Arena Wembley on Friday, June 2nd

Heriot, a heavy metal band featuring young Cypriot Turkish musician Erhan Alman, has been nominated for two awards at the prestigious Heavy Music Awards ceremony, which will take place on Friday, June 2nd at the OVO Arena Wembley.

Heriot is among the nominees in the categories of Best Breakthrough Album and Best Breakthrough Live Artist. They will be competing against six other artists in each category.

This year’s Heavy Music Awards include a total of 14 categories. The shortlists were determined by a panel consisting of nearly 1,000 industry experts, and heavy music fans have the opportunity to determine the winners through public voting.

Erhan plays guitar for Heriot and performs alongside vocalist/guitarist Debbie Gough, guitarist Erhan Alman, vocalist/bassist Jake Packer, and drummer Julian Gage. The four-piece band has been referred to as “the most exciting new band in British metal” by Louder Sound magazine.

The band was originally formed in 2016, but real-life circumstances led them to a period of uncertainty, and the second chapter of their story began in 2019. When they released their 2020 single “Cleansed Existence,” people fell in love with their music.

Heriot, which is signed to the independent record label Church Records, generated a wave of increased interest with their critically acclaimed debut album “Profound Morality” last year.

In the past 12 months, Heriot has supported Sheffield mathcore stars Rolo Tomassi and American heavy metal giants Lamb of God, as well as performed at major events like the Download Festival. The band embarked on a UK tour, playing concerts at venues such as The Electric Ballroom in Camden, London, and Strange Brew in Bristol.

Next month, the quartet will travel to the continent to perform at the Mystic Festival in Gdansk, Poland, and the Full Force Festival in Gräfenhainichen, Germany.”
