Tripadvisor has revealed the top 10 most popular overseas summer holiday destinations for Britons this year – and it’s Benidorm in Spain that’s number one.
The Spanish seaside resort is followed by the Turkish city of Antalya in second place and Paris in third.
The rest of the overseas list comprises Barcelona (fourth); Spain’s Costa Adeje (fifth); Amsterdam (sixth); Dubai (seventh); Rome (eighth); New York (ninth) and Albufeira in Portugal (tenth).
Tripadvisor has also produced a ranking of the most popular domestic destinations for a summer getaway, with London topping the podium.
The capital is followed by Edinburgh (second), Blackpool (third), Liverpool (fourth) and Manchester (fifth) in terms of popularity.
Making up the rest of the domestic top 10 ranking there’s York (sixth); Bournemouth (seventh); Glasgow (eighth); Brighton (ninth) and Newquay (tenth).
The rankings are based on a combination of search and sentiment survey data and are part of Tripadvisor’s Seasonal Travel Index of 2023, which reveals various other insights into Brits’ travel plans this summer.
Two in five Brits (43 per cent) intend to travel more this summer than last, the Tripadvisor study also notes, with 79 per cent planning up to two holidays.
