RADA set to open its doors to ‘Happy New Year’

A Turkish author, well-known actor, academic and director living in London, Dr Elif İskender’s play Happy New Year will meet theatre lovers in the West End.

‘New Year’s Eve 2023… In the last hours of 2022, they do not expect this reckoning… These two women, who have dreamed of a thousand different scenarios of the day they will see each other again for the last 20 years, will struggle with a retrospective in front of a window overlooking the Bosphorus in Istanbul. This is a life-death, and identity struggle.’

Written and directed by Dr Elif Iskender, is set to premiere at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) on May 20th in London.

Starring the established actresses Ezgi Bakiskan and Ece Eristi, ‘Happy New Year’ explores themes of love, loss, trauma, and forgiveness. The play delves deep into the complexities of human relationships, offering a fresh and honest portrayal of the emotions that drive us.

As the first original play to be directed by Dr Elif Iskender, ‘Happy New Year’ is already receiving critical acclaim for its thought-provoking storyline and strong performances. It promises to be a night of captivating theatre that audiences will not soon forget.

Dr Elif İskender is a famous playwright, successful academic and visionary director, and currently runs her own studio, ‘Elif İskender Acting Academy and Theater’.
