The unforgettable characters of Turkish Cypriot theatre art, Alikko ile Caher, will be staged by the Folklore and Youth Centre (FOGEM) team in London on 19 and 20 May.
Osman Balıkçıoğlu spoke with Londra Gazete about the upcoming performance which is being sponsored by Balıkçıoğlu Cabaret Theatre, Balıkçıoğlu said, “I, Osman Balıkçıoğlu, as the original Caher, will join the team and share the stage with them.”
The plays of the period, written by the late Kemal Tunç and starred Kemal Tunç as Alikko and Osman Balıkçıoğlu as Caher. Last November, Alikko and Caher met with the audience through FOGEM in North Cyprus. FOGEM President Salahi Döşemeci expressed their satisfaction with the public’s interest in the game and said, “It was a project we believed in and worked hard on. However, this interest of the public was above our expectations. The more Turkish Cypriots we can deliver this game that tells us about us, the more successful we will consider ourselves.”
The play will be performed at Gladesmore School in Tottenham on Friday, 19 May, and in south London on Saturday, 20 May. Tickets are £15.00 and can be obtained by calling the numbers below.
