The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Yasin Ekrem Serim was in London this week visiting ahead of the voting period for UK-based voters in the Turkish general and presidential election.

Register voters living in the UK will be able to vote from April 29 to May 7 in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, While in Liescter voting will take place from April 29 to May 1.

Part of Serim role as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs covers overseas election voting including the logistics and transport of ballots back to Turkey to be counted.

Visiting the voting venue in London with the Turkish Consul General to Lonodn Bekir Utku Atahan and Turkish Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş and officials, examining and evaluating the voting preparations ahead of Saturday. Serim also evaluated the consular services.

Serim said ” It is important that our citizens living abroad can vote, thereby exercising one of the basic democratic rights.

“All our missions aboard have taken necessary measures to ensure that our citizens can vote safely and peacefully in the most appropriate conditions possible.”

Adding that ” I will like to take this opportunity to thank our esteemed community, the people and the authorities of the UK for their solidarity and support after the 6 February earthquakes.”

Prior to his London visit, Serim was in Germany examing the voting preparations.

Overseas voting official starts today April 27, some  3.4 million Turkish citizens living abroad began voting and will be able to cast their votes at select locations during specificity dates which have been set for each country during this period.

Where can you vote in the UK?

The venue in London will be held at Old Billingsgate, 1 Old Billingsgate Walk, London EC3R 6DX.

In Manchester, voting will take place at 14 Oxford Court, Manchester M2 3WQ.

Edinburgh voting will be at 39 Drumsheugh Gardens, Edinburgh, EH3 7SW.

In Leicester, voting will take place at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club, Director’s Lounge, Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium, Aylestone Road, Leicester, LE2 7TR.

Voting will take place from 9 am to 9 pm each day and included weekends.
