April 23 was celebrated with enthusiasm in London

A celebration program was held at Hornsey Atatürk School in London, on the occasion of 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

Turkish and Turkish Cypriot students sang songs, recited poems and danced within the scope of the event, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.

The families watched the Zeybek show of a group of students from London Atatürk School with great interest. In addition, after the program, the children played tug-of-war and participated in painting and painting workshops.

Turkey’s Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş, The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s (TRNC) London Representative Çimen Keskin, and Turkish and Turkish Cypriot diplomatic, along with families living in London attended the event.

In his speech at the event, Ambassador Ertaş reminded us that there is a double holiday this year. He expressed his pleasure to celebrate the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day and Eid al-Fitr with Turkish and TRNC citizens in London.

Ertaş stated that April 23 has significant meanings in terms of national sovereignty and the generations to whom the future is entrusted, and noted that the Turkish nation gave one of the biggest tests in its history at the beginning of the 20th century.

Ambassador Ertaş, emphasizing the importance of preserving the identity and values of Turks living in the diaspora for their success in life, thanked the parents and teachers who contributed to the survival of the holidays in England.

Representative Keskin stated “The Great Leader Atatürk gifted this day to the children of our future. Every year, we celebrate April 23 with pride and enthusiasm, which is the only universal holiday gifted to children in the world.”
