Hülya Alişoğlu’s death shocks community

Presenter Hülya Nur Özdemir Alişoğlu, one of the well-known and loved figures of the British Turkish community passed away after succumbing to cancer. The news of Alişoğlu’s death caused deep sadness in England.

On Monday, April 10 Alişoğlu’s death was announced sending a shockwave through the Turkish Speaking communities in the UK.  Born in Paşalı, a district of Çatalzeytin, Kastamonu in Turkey Alişoğlu lived in London for a number of years.

The presenter of the Londra Aktüel program broadcast on ATV Europe had been fighting cancer for some years. The mother of 2 young children aged 12 and 8 was also married to producer and Co-presenter Sevgin Alişoğlu.

On Friday 14 April, a funeral prayer will take place at 10.30 am, at Ramadan Mosque 9-15 Shacklewell Lane, London E8 2DA, following the service her body will be taken to Turkey where she will be laid to rest.
