Over £9,000 raised at fundraising event

A Family Fundraiser event for all ages will be held in north London on Sunday 26 February.

Food, drinks, and dessert are just a few things you can enjoy at the event, kids mascots and stalls such as face painting, henna, glitter tattoos, and raffles all went on during the day event and the community members raised over £9,000.

The ‘Family Fundraiser’ event, organized by Sheniz Aslan, was held with great participation, hundreds of members from the Turkish-speaking communities, as well as the wider communities, attended the event to show their support to those affected in Turkey and Syria following earthquakes which hit the region in February.

In a statement to Londra Gazete Sheniz said: “As we started receiving more and more donations and offers of help, the Whatsapp groupchat grew and it quickly became apparent that the small community hall we had originally planned to use was not going to be big enough.” The event was moved to  Grand Palace Banqueting Suite to accommodate the growing numbers.

Thanking all those business and volunteers that helped bring the event together she added “…It’s because of your support and kindness that we were able to make this possible and provide aid for the lives of those who have suffered at the cost of the devastating earthquakes.

“This fundraiser truly demonstrated the power of our wonderful community when we come together for a common cause. It was an absolute pleasure to organise, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve next time!”
