The world’s largest tourism fair the World Travel Market (WTM) took place this week, with operations and businesses from in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) participating.
The 3-day event held at Excel London saw stands from North Cyprus and Turkey at the WTM and hosted the leading representatives of the world tourism industry. On the first day of the fair, the TRNC Ersin Tatar and the Minister of Culture and Turkey’s Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy attended the fair.
The most important features of WTM, which is defined as the second largest exhibition in the world after ITB Berlin, are the determination of tourism policies to be followed by countries and major tour operators in the next year, tourism products (business, education, culture, health, travel and technology) in the same area. is to create an opportunity to be exhibited by professionals.
Another feature of the fair is that it includes important events such as seminars, panels, and workshops organized within the fair and held on the status and future of the tourism sector, in which many sector professionals participate as speakers and audience.
The TRNC and Turkey stand was in the European and Mediterranean halls of the fairground this year, as every year. At the fair, in which tourism stakeholders also participated, in addition to the promotion of the country, the special flavours of each country were served to visitors.
Regarding the number of visitors from England to Turkey, Ersoy said, “We set a very ambitious target for this year of 3.5 million. Hopefully, at the end of the year, will have achieved the goal of 5 million.”
Tatar met with Ersoy, who visited the TRNC stand at the World Tourism Fair. Tatar thanked Ersoy for the support given to the TRNC in the promotion of North Cyprus’s tourism, and said that the TRNC is on its way to becoming a shining star and destination in its region.
