WIGS for Hereos proudly announced that they raised £35k for the North Middlesex hospital, hence, purchased Scalp cooling machines purchased for North Middlesex Hospital Chemotherapy Day Unit.
Wigs for Heroes founder Koz Foncette announced the good news on her social media account on Monday, October 24, and made the following statement:
“£35,000 raised. Two Scalp cooling machines were purchased for North Middlesex Hospital Chemotherapy Day Unit. Moreover, that my friends is what you call one heck of a Monday!
Thank you to everyone who helped us raise the money. Who shared our posts and actively supported the entire fundraising campaign. There was a moment where I did not even think we’d be able to buy one machine but look ….good will always prevail! Proud moment and emotional as ever. Twenty patients already actively using the machines. I could not have done it without the support so thank you. In 2019’,was the first patient to use the scalp cooling machine at north mid. I kept all of my hair.
“In 2021, the chemo team were desperate for a second machine. Only one machine meant only two people at any one time could use it. With 10-15 people starting chemo each week, the demand was growing and the money in the units pot was short. This meant scheduling issues for the chemo team and some patients almost being turned away. Everyone deserves the chance to have hope of keeping their hair. Just as I did. Therefore, I wanted to give back. And give back we did. More support for this wonderful unit to come. We will make this the best unit in London. I promise.”
