The number of Turkish students studying in the UK has dropped by nearly a fifth.
Figures released this week by the Home Office have revealed that 7,498 people applied to study on a 6 or 11-month course in Britain in the year to September 2014, down from 9,207 in the previous twelve months.
Despite the 20 percent drop, Turkey remains the third most popular country source of students wanting to study English in the UK.
There were 75,525 applications across the world in the same period, with China supplying the most applications (11,090) followed by Russia (10,143).
The Home Office data revealed an increase in the number of foreign nationals being accepted on to university courses in Britain: there were 263,000 such applications in 2013-14.
