Multiple roads were closed in Holloway on Monday morning after a water main burst, causing flooding up to 4-foot high in places.
London Fire Brigade said they were called at 7.01am to the corner of Hornsey Road and Tollington Road after a 36-inch water main burst.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were at the scene.
Hornsey Road was closed between Tollington Road and Seven Sisters Road with buses 4,29, 91, 153, 253, 254 and 259 on diversion.
The Brigade took 12 calls to the incident.
Fire crews from Holloway, Islington, Kentish Town, Stoke Newington and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
A spokesman from Thames Water told residents on social media the supplier was aware of the incident and a team on-site.
