London Overground and Tube workers announce fresh strike action on same day

LONDON Overground staff will join Tube workers in strike action later this month after talks between unions and transport bosses collapsed.

On Tuesday the RMT said industrial action will hit the majority of the capital’s train services when workers walk out for 24 hours on August 19.

Around 10,000 Tube workers are expected to walk out on the busy August Friday, along with around 400 Overground workers employed by Arriva Rail London, also striking over pay.

The RMT said TfL had refused to share details of the government’s “final” draft funding proposal, which City Hall has until this afternoon(4 August)  to accept or reject.

It falls between two existing nationwide strike dates, 18 and 20 August, where RMT members some 40,000 transport workers for Network Rail and 14 separate train operators – will walk out for 24 hours on each day in a dispute with Network Rail over pay.
