THE Atatürk society UK (ASUK) released two separate press releases for the 99th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne and the 20th of July.
ASUK said “We honour the 99th anniversary of the Lausanne Peace Treaty, which is the title deed of the Republic of Turkey,”
“… The Treaty of Lausanne represents the will that led to the birth of a free and independent nation, while Sevres represents an understanding that has been oppressed for its own interests and has accepted to live as a colony. We commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, İsmet İnönü and his colleagues, who showed an example of struggle, determination and superior diplomacy in Lausanne, with respect, gratitude and gratitude.”
Also celebrating the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day ASUK said: “This week also marks the 48th anniversary of the ‘Operation Peace and Freedom’, which Turkey carried out on July 20, 1974, using its right arising from international agreements, in the face of the Greek coup on July 15, 1974, with the aim of annexing Cyprus to Greece. We celebrate with enthusiasm.
As the British Kemalist Thought Association, we always defend the existence of two states with equal rights on the island of Cyprus and we say that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will live as a free and independent state forever…”
