Plot in Hertford Road Cemetery made available to the Alevi community

THE British Alevi Federation (BAF) announced that a plot of land in Hertford Road Cemetery, North London has been allocated for the use of the Alevi community by the local council.

In a statement, BAF shared online they said: “The burial place for the use of us Alevi has been allocated by Enfield Council in North London. As a result of long applications and negotiations, the successful conclusion of this service will meet an important need. We would like to thank our community members who are involved in political activities in the municipality, the managers of our Federation, the British Alevi Cultural Centre and the Cemevi and Enfield Alevi Cultural Centre for these important and historical initiatives and services. As a result of the meeting of our council officials and institution managers at the cemetery, all agreements have been concluded and it will be ready for the use of our society in two weeks. This agreement, which was made with the awareness of sensitivities such as the ordering of our souls walking towards the truth in our Alevi belief and the fact that it is very important to have a permanent place, traditional tomb structure features and close proximity, will be put at the service of our entire Alevi community.”
