The Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce’s (KTTO) London Representation Office was opened with a ceremony on Thursday.
TRNC President Ersin Tatar’s wife Sibel Tatar, the TRNC’s London Representative Çimen Keskin, the head of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz as well as officials from the Turkish Embassy in London were present at the event.
Addressing the guests, the TRNC’s London Representative Çimen Keskin reminded that the Turkish Cypriot people were subjected to unjust embargoes and international isolation.
She said that the office will play a crucial role in overcoming such obstacles.
Also speaking, the head of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz said that the office will serve as a bridge between North Cyprus and the UK.
“We believe that developing relations with the UK and the partnerships which we will form will be of great importance to the TRNC. Our London office will help us fulfil our responsibilities. There are currently 300,000 Turkish Cypriots residing in the UK and we believe that this office will provide us with new opportunities to deepen relations and to achieve economic gain,” he said.
Earlier on Thursday, President Ersin Tatar who had been forced to cancel his trip to the UK due to the government crisis, issued a message highlighting the significance of opening such an office.
He said that the office will play a crucial role in developing commercial as well as social relations between the TRNC and the UK.
