THE Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations (CTCA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, May 1st where its members elected Fahri Zihni as its new chair.
15 member associations and schools along with six former chairs attended the AGM. The board of directors for the council. Then the secretary of the cashier read the financial report and submitted it to the votes of the members.
Members voted between Fahri Zihni and former CTCA chair Ayşe Osman who took over from Ertuğrul Mehmet in 2021 after he stepped down before completing his term in full. Last year CTCA appointed Osman as chair following a decision that the association wouldn’t be able to hold its AGM due to the pandemic.
This year its members were able to gather together once again and cast their votes, in a tight result Zihni was elected with 25 votes, surpassing Osman by one vote to go on to be CTCA’s 14th Chair.
Osman thanked the Board of Directors of the Past Presidents for their devoted work and support over the past year and wished the new President and the Board of Directors successful work.
