Limassol Association UK, one of the oldest and most active associations in England, celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm. Limassolians Association UK committee members, came together with their members in East London on Sunday, 13 March, and celebrated 8 March International Women’s Day.
Arife Retvan, Chair of the Limassol Association UK, made the opening speech and used the following statements: “Limassol Assocition UK wanted to emphasize the importance of such a meaningful week by organising a dinner event on the role of women in society within the framework of the UK International Women’s Week event. May the smiles, hearts, happiness, beauty and success be permanent from the faces of our women. We would like to thank Kanal T London Representative Duygu Tağmaç, who voiced our voice and presented us on such a meaningful day, we would also like to thank all the women who participated in our event and everyone who always supported us. ”
After the speech of Arife Retvan, Waltham Forest Councillor Ilkay Isa, Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations Chair Ayşe Osman and businesswoman Yıldız Armstrong gave speeches and underlined the importance and power of women in the world. Waltham Forest councillor Ilkay Isa, who made great efforts for the Turkish-speaking community and achieved many successes, was selected as the woman of the year, and a plaque was presented to Isa by the chair of the association, Retvan.
