THE statues of the ‘Alikko and Caher’ duo, whose names are written in gold letters for the Cyprus Turkish theatre, come to life in the park in Nicosia, North Cyprus.

The ‘Alikko and Caher’ duo played by Osman Balıkçıoğlu and the late Kemal Tunç have now been created into statues by Ceramic Sculpture Artist Sevcan Çerkez.

On Wednesday 9 March, Balıkçıoğlu attended the opening ceremony where he shared a post side by side with his statue saying: “Today, the statues of me and Kemal Tunç, as Alikko and Caher, were inaugurated in the Kuğulu Park in Nicosia. I posed with my statue in front of quite crowded participants. I wanted to share with you this picture taken with my statue, which is a reflection of this event that gave me great pride and happiness.”

When the news of the statues was shared Balıkçıoğlu spoke with Londra Gazete saying “I would like to thank my late partner Kemal Tunç and the Nicosia Turkish Municipality on my own behalf, this is a great honour. “
