PEACE and Federal Cyprus Platform (UK) emphasized that reaching peace in Cyprus is only possible with a new restructuring, stating that the only way to achieve this would be possible with the direct participation of non-governmental organizations in the inter-communal negotiation process.
In a statement, they said: “The peace movement of the Turkish Cypriots, who live in England and argue that lasting peace in Cyprus can only be established with a Fedral solution, and the Peace and Federal Cyprus Platform (UK), believe that lasting peace on our island is an unattainable dream unless social dynamics and inter-communal negotiation processes are restructured in our homeland Cyprus. In this sense, we call on political parties, civil organizations, trade unions and professional organizations, who see lasting peace in Cyprus in a Federal Cyprus, to find a way of struggle together by combining their efforts on the way to a Federal Cyprus…”
The platform is calling on the United Nations (UN) Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to take action towards making an “effective contributions to show their sincerity in reaching a peaceful and sustainable federal settlement of the Cyprus issue.” Stating that voices
