THE brother of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been arrested after allegedly urging members of the public to burn down MPs’ offices, UK media reported on Sunday.
London Metropolitan Police confirmed on Twitter that a man in his 70s was arrested “on suspicion of incitement to arson” and is being held in custody.
In the statement they said “He was arrested in Southwark at around 01:45hrs on Sunday, 19 December.
“The arrest relates to a video posted online in which people were encouraged to burn down MPs’ offices.”
A video circulating on social media shows Corbyn speaking to a group of supporters. In the video, he attacks politicians who voted in favor of COVID-19 restrictions.
In the video which has been shared on social media Piers Corby can be heard saying, “We have to get a little more physical … We have to hammer to death these scum, these scum who decided to go ahead with the introduction of new fascism.
Towards the end of the video, Corbyn then said, “If your MP is one of them, go to their offices and, well, I would recommend burning them.”
Home Sectary Priti Patel called the video “disgusting” and urged police to take “the strongest possible action against him,” in a Twitter post.
The alleged incitement to the Corbyn arson attack came just weeks after the assassination of British politician David Amess in his surgical constituency in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, in October.
Piers has now been arrested at least five times since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and has received fines totalling more than £10,000.
