Haringey Council leader calls for review of the Edmonton Incinerator

Cllr Peray Ahmet the Leader of Haringey Council has called for a pause and review of the Edmonton Incinerator because of its size, its impact and community concern. The Haringey Leader says: “I am wring to you to underline that there are still significant levels of community concern about the proposed new heat from waste power plant

Despite reassurances, residents and local councillors are very worried about the air pollution from the new incinerator which will be a significantly larger plant that the current one. Our community also wants to do more recycling and feels the size of the incinerator will mean that there is an incentive to produce more water in order to feed the associated District Energy Network.

I am asking the North London Waste Authority to consider a pause and review of the project.”
