A protest against the Edmonton incinerator was held outside Tottenham Green Leisure Centre on Monday evening, November 22.
In a statement made by The Democratic Union of Forces, they stated that Haringey Councillors were set to discuss the construction of the use of the incinerator in Edmonton.
A statement about the protest, which also included members of the Turkish speaking communities said: “As the XR Zero Waste environmental component, this project has been requested to be stopped and reconsidered. Garbage incinerators pollute the air by burning recyclables, poisoning us as well.”
Councillors in Haringey did not debate plans for a controversial new waste incinerator despite dozens of campaigners turned up to protest against the scheme.
