Statue of ‘Alikko and Caher’ duo will be erected

THE statues of the ‘Alikko and Caher’ duo, whose names are written in gold letters for the CYPRUS Turkish theatre, come to life in the park at the Kyrenia Gate in Nicosia.

In order to contribute to the Turkish Cypriot culture and art, the Nicosia Turkish Municipality has decided to erect the statues of “Alikko and Caher”.

This work, in which Kemal Tunç and Osman Balıkçıoğlu will be immortalized, was brought to life by Ceramic Sculpture Artist Sevcan Çerkez.

Speaking to Londra Gazete, Osman Balıkçıoğlu stated that the value given by the Nicosia Turkish Municipality to the Turkish Cypriot art and culture is an act to be applauded, and said, “I would like to thank my late partner Kemal Tunç and the Nicosia Turkish Municipality on my own behalf, this is a great honour. “
