THE general assembly meeting of the British Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi was held on Monday 4 October. Electing two Chairpersoners Filiz Koç and İbrahim Has, will be working together in a joint presidency.
The 24th Term General Assembly of the British Alevi Cultural Centre and Cemevi was held with intense participation. A total of 507 valid votes were cast for the new administration. While the list of Filiz Koç and İbrahim Has both received 258 votes, winning the election.
The opening speech was given by form AKM chair Zeynel Akdoğan welcoming members, Eylem Yörük presented its activity report to the general assembly.
After the activity report was read, British Alevi Federation (BAF) Chairman İsrafil Erbil spoke. Pointing out that young people recognize Alevism in Britain and that Alevism is recognized both locally and centrally, Erbil said, “The next administration needs to work to increase these gains.”
In the congress held in the meeting hall of the AKM and Cemevi headquarters , Mahmet Aydoğan was the Chairman of the Council, while the Council Committee was chaired by Prof Dr Erdem Kaşıkçıoğlu, Dr İsmail Bulut, Croydon Cemevi President Mahmut Aydoğan, BAF Gülay Dalkılıç, Haringey Council officer Elvan Asutay and Foundations Department impartial observer Yaşar İsmailoğlu.
Among the 27-member board of directors included in Koç and Has’s list, 15 are women and 12 are men. The Board of Directors is as follows: President Filiz Koç, Co-President İbrahim Has, Hüseyin Kaplan,Güler Yirik, Saniye Uyan, Hülya Aslan, Sibel Özçelik, Ali Ender Cemgil, Halil Akçadağ, Sevcan Kocabattal, Serhat Atasoy, Günseli Erdoğan, Taner Ölmez, Sevgi Aksu, Serpil İşlek, Alev Kaya, Aylin Koç, Ozan Deniz, Şaziye Boybeyi, Gülay Yıldırım, Helin Yalçın, Sevilay Güneş, İpek İlker Demirkaya, Velir Ergün, Güngür Kaya, Cumalı İnce and Hüseyin Kahraman.
