An officer who was convicted of causing criminal damage has been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police Service.
PC Bilal Aziz, attached to the Central East Basic Command Unit, appeared before a Special Case Hearing on Friday, 17 September, where he was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct.
After hearing the evidence, the Chair, Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball, concluded that his behaviour amounted to gross misconduct and that he should be dismissed without notice.
PC Aziz was found guilty at Romford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 26 January of causing criminal damage in relation to a neighbour dispute. He was issued with a restraining order and made to pay compensation to the victim.
Detective Chief Superintendent Marcus Barnett, Commander of the Central East Command Unit, said: “PC Aziz’s actions were completely unacceptable and the outcome of this hearing demonstrates that there is no place for such behaviour in the Metropolitan Police Service.”
PC Aziz will be placed on the Police Barred List.
