The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has announced a new entry requirement for travellers trying the country from Monday, 6 September.
Travellers entering via air-sea or land crossing will need to register for a QR code before entry.
The new change means that along with a negative PCR test result, the QR code and additional proof of vaccination for those fully vaccinated will be required from travellers when entering.
In a statement it said:
“Within the framework of the new decisions taken by the Communicable Diseases High Committee on 1.09.2021, as of 6.09.2021, persons who come to our country by air and sea and from outside the island using land border gates will be able to enter into the country with their negative PCR test result for the last 72 hours before travel, will be required to complete the passenger form at adapass.gov.ct.tr before the trip and they will enter the island with their QR code to be taken.
People who enter the web site;
“TRNC citizens “ADAPASS” – Turkish citizens “HEALTH PASS” – EU citizens “GREENPASS” – UK citizens “NHS QR Code Document”
“Other country citizens should add their valid vaccination cards and/or PCR test results to the determined section in the application. The documents added will be checked upon entry to the country, so people must bring these documents with them.
“This application will be mandatory for those aged 18 and older.”
UK on the orange list
As of September 6, the UK will be moved from the red list to the orange list.
Fully vaccinated travellers will not have to quarantine as long as they provide a negative PCR test take within 72 hours of crossing.
A traveller that has not been fully vaccinated will now have a 5 day quarantine period after entry with a negative PCR test takes within 72 hours.
Currently, UK travellers that are not fully vaccinated are required to carry out a 7 day quarantine period.
Despite being on the red list which would mean 5-day quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers, the TRNC has allowed UK citizens to enter without having to quarantine until August 31st, this deadline was extended to September 6th.
