KTGAB show their support for Baby Asya

The Turkish Cypriot Youth and Family Association (KTGAB) held a helping and solidarity breakfast for a Baby Asya who has SMA in North Cyprus.

KTGAB started out a join aid campaign for Baby Asya and 6-month-old Baby Karel also from North Cyprus, sadly Baby Karel died of SMA over the weekend, and the donations collected from the event will be given towards help Baby Asya fight again SMA.

While the aid campaign continues in Cyprus for Baby Asya who was diagnosed with SMA Type 1, London-based KTGAB said it will continue to extend a helping hand for those in need.

A breakfast was held on Sunday (July 18), was held which members of KTCB and the community come together to show their support, raising £1,000 for Baby Aysa.

KTGAB has also been selling raffle tickets in the community for a draw being held on August 1st, the sales from this will also be put towards the final donation.

Speaking at the solidarity event, KTGAB President Nafiya Horozoğlu said:

“As the Turkish Cypriot Youth and Family Association, we said we would do our best to give hope to our little babies, but on Friday, we learned with deep sadness that the 6-month-old baby Karel had succumbed to the struggle for survival. We lost a life, we have to show social solidarity in order to give life to Asya with the unity of hand and heart.

“We invite all our Turkish-speaking society living in England to solidarity in order to keep Asia alive. Let’s all be a breather together, let’s be hope for our baby. A small 8-month-old baby, Asya Polatlı. Diagnosed with SMA Disease 2 months after her birth, has been living on machines for 6 months. All income from the event that took place on July 18 and other charity activities will be transferred directly to baby Asya.”

Asya’s aunt, who attended the event, had emotional moments thank everyone for the support in the fight get Aysa the life-saving treatment.
