A Turkish Cypriot teacher recognised in the “Oscars of Education”

TURKISH Cypriot headteacher Faik Kordemir, who works as a primary school principal in Manchester, England, is on the ” Pearson National Teaching Awards” list, known as the “Oscars of Education”. Kordemir was deemed worthy of a high appreciation awards in the “Head teacher Of The Year Primary School” category.

After graduating from the Turkish Teachers’ College in 1991, after completing a master’s degree in special education at Manchester University, he started teaching in England in 1993 and was later promoted to headteacher at his primary school. 420 students are studying at Holden Clough Community Primary School, of which Kordemir runs.

The Teaching Awards were established in England in 1998, awards have been given to successful primary, secondary and college school teachers in 15 different categories, and the awarded teachers are promoted all over the UK.
