McDonald’s guard arrested after woman was beaten and kicked

Police are investigating after a McDonald’s security guard was caught on film battering and kicking a woman who threw a drink at him.

The bouncer attacked the woman after she threw the remains of a drink at him in the early hours of Sunday in Birmingham.

In mobile phone footage uploaded to the Birmz is Grime blog, bystanders urge the woman to ‘do it, do it, you bad?’.

As soon as she throws the dregs of her drink at him and runs away, the guard grabs his stick from the city centre doorway and chases after her.

He whacks her with the stick and pushes her to the ground several metres away, before landing a series of blows with the baton to her head and body.

With the woman lying on the floor and the attack seemingly over, bystanders and the cameraman laugh when the guard appears to say ‘man up’,

But she then says something back and he returns to boot her in the head twice before the clip ends with the woman still on the ground next to Birmingham’s New Street station.

West Midlands Police(WMP) said: “We’re aware of a video circulating online which shows disorder outside McDonald’s in Birmingham city centre, at around 4.30am this morning…”

In an update, following this, the WMP shared a social media post saying: “We’ve arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He’s on his way to custody.”

A McDonald’s spokesman said: ‘This incident is subject to an ongoing Police investigation.

‘We have a zero-tolerance approach to violence or abuse of any kind and will cooperate fully with Police enquiries.’
