Day-Mer presents a new theatre show

THE Day-Mer square stage arranges a sad two-act comedy. The play, which will take the stage on 3 separate days, will take place on 27, 28 and 29 June at the Millfield Theatre.

Drama instructor and director Celal Perki, who made a statement about the play named “Aşureli Yanık Halva”, used the following statements:

“In recent years, we’ve all been talking at the same time, but we’ve been keeping shouting quietly. At first, we have forgotten to listen to ourselves and others, to accept with understanding or not. We experience both our traumas and our joys in a state of hysteria; such that “we will laugh, we will cry, we will laugh at ourselves!” That’s why I call the play “sad comedy”. Otherwise, “it’s funny” or “an epic of pain!” We do not intend to use opium.

The starting point of this theatre show was the young suicides that intensified in 2010; We turned into a confused and helpless mass when the children of families from all walks of life committed suicide in a month, with an intensity of almost four to five, one after the other. In one of the meetings where we tried to stand side by side with a belated effort to understand the reasons and find ways out, the policeman, whom I know, said, “Actually, we know why a young man commits suicide, for example, but we hide it in case his family can’t stand that truth!” words whispered! For a long time, this “reality” that we could not even face death kept spinning in my head.”
