TWPA held a farewell lunch for Representative Tuncalı

The Turkish Women Philanthropic Association (TWPA) held a farewell lunch for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s (TRNC) London Representative Oya Tuncalı.

On Friday, June 18 members of TWPA and guests joining together at their headquarters, including newly elected Haringey Council Leader Peray Ahmet to enjoy a homemade lunch with traditional Cypriot foods while socially distancing.

Welcoming members to the lunch TWPA Chair Semahat Mustafa thanked everyone for attending their first event in near a year and a half; also thanking and welcomed Tuncalı, Ahmet and CTCA UK Chair Ayse Osman to be their guest for the event.

Mustafa said: “Thank you for the years of support you have shown to our association, we wish you well in Cyprus and all the best in your next journey.”

Representative Tuncalı will be returning to the TRNC with post official ending in London on August 1st.

Saying: “I would like to thank the TWPA chair, committee members and member beautiful event they have organised today. We have worked together over through my three different positions in the TRNC London Representative Office, while carrying out my duty I have worked together with a number of associations that have shown their support.

“TWPA is a valuable association, female associations with many projects with its own building so I would like to thank them for the beautiful event.  Its association like TWPA that not only support our Turkish Cypriot Community but especially women.

“Today we have Haringey Council Leader Peray Ahmet with us, we also have women in political positions like Baroness Meral Ece-Hussian and Enfield Council leader Nesil Caliskan, and organisations like TWPA play an important role, seeing our community members in political members in these position increase is an honour for our community and country.”

Going onto say throughout her 37-year career, 11 years have been in London which has created a bond with community members.  TWPA present Tuncalı with flowers and a farewell gift.
