Petition started calling on Turkey to be removed from the red list

A new petition calling for the UK to remove Turkey from its red list has been launched.

In a call to the UK government to remove Turkey from the red list, it stated: “Review the current status of Turkey and remove Turkey from the red list for international travel.

“There are millions of people, who live in the U.K and need to visit their families during summer.”

As of May 12, Turkey was placed on the red list which and only travellers who are British or Irish National or have residence rights will only be allowed to enter the UK.

Anyone that does travel and returns will be facing a large bill, with 11-day hotel quarantine under government supervision for £1750 per adult and children depending on their aged £325 or £650.

Many have been left in doubt over if they will be able to travel, expressing their anger that the uncertainty has meant they will be unable to see their family, for many if they are unable to travel to Turkey this could be the second summer in a row.

Nearly 3,000 signatures have been gathered on the petition link:  https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/587179

The travel list is reviewed every 3 weeks by the government, the first review saw Turkey’s travel statues remain, while the UK added more countries to it’s red list and moving Portugal from the green to amber.
