Cllr Sabri Ozaydin has been re-elected to serve a second term as the Mayor of Enfiled.
Ozaydin, who represents Turkey Street ward, was elected mayor at the annual council meeting on Wednesday.
Özaydın who is of Kahramanmaraş origins said: “I express my sincere appreciation for placing your trust in me. I take this responsibility and trust you have shown in me very seriously.
“I commit to serving the people of the borough of Enfield to the best of my abilities, enthusiasm, compassion and devotion to our community.”
He added: “I am hoping to gain as much support as possible during my mayoral year throughout my charity, by working closely with as many voluntary sector groups and as many hard-to-reach groups as possible.
Cllr Christine Hamilton will remain as deputy mayor for another year.
The official ceremony is expected to take place in July.
