Coronavirus UK: 4 deaths, 2,357 new cases and 53m vaccinations

The UK’s daily coronavirus update has reported 4 deaths and 2,357 new cases for the 24 hours period of May 9.

So far a total of over 53.3 million vaccines have been administered, of these 35.4m are first doses and 17.8m are second.

67.3% of all UK adults have received their first dose, around half of those vaccinated have had their second shot.

Anyone over the ages of 40 can now book their vaccine appointment in the UK.

Surge testing in North Kensington

Everyone over the age of 16 living in the W11 postcode of west London is being told to get a PCR test – regardless of whether they have symptoms or not, Public Health England has said.

It comes after a “small number” of South African variant cases were detected.
